FAQ

  • Do you offer counseling for children and teens?
No, at this stage we do not. Specialist training is recommended when working with children and teenagers, and we have a commitment to working to a very high standard. Due to the fact that none of our counsellors are qualified to work with children and teens specifically, we believe that the safest thing is to direct children and teens to practitioners who specialise in working with them.
  • Do you accept insurance?
Alas, not yet. It is in our plans to eventually accept insurance, but at this stage we currently do not.
  • Is everything I discuss in counseling private?
We work in line with GDPR regulations to ensure that your private information is kept private, and would never misuse or share your data without your consent. We respect your privacy and would never share your private thoughts for unprofessional reasons. We may discuss information about the difficulties you're experiencing within Supervision, which is a professional resource to ensure that we work ethically with you and ensure great outcomes, but this information is shared anonymously and you would not be identifiable. However, there are instances where we are legally-bound to share information about you for your safety and the safety of others. In the UK, it is a legal requirement to report any knowledge of acts of terrorism, drug trafficking and money laundering. Additionally, we take safeguarding and duty of care seriously, especially in cases involving minors and vulnerable adults. In the case of a threat to life, we are duty-bound to ensure that appropriate support and help is sought out, and this may involve us discussing concerns with a medical professional or third party. We ensure that we discuss our concerns with you prior to sharing your information, where it is possible for us to do so. We aim to be very clear about planned course of actions with you, so that you get the support you need and are an active part of the process of seeking help.
  • How do I book an appointment?
Please see our page 'Book an Appointment'. An initial assessment session is required prior to any therapeutic treatment. The initial assessment allows us to ensure that it is within our remit to work with you, and to ensure that you and the therapist are a good fit. It's a great chance to make sure you 'gel' well with the therapist and that you have some ideas about what you would like from counselling. The initial assessment is free, and lasts for 20 minutes or less. You can drop us an email to book one in, please list the times and days when you are available and we'll confirm it with you by email. Follow-up and regular appointments are maintained on Kiku, a booking software, and will be arranged by you and the counsellor.
  • Can I contact my counsellor between sessions?
We do not as a rule maintain contact between sessions, and encourage clients to contact us between sessions only for scheduling reasons. Resources are provided on our website to make sure you are adequately supported in between sessions.
  • What are your fees for counselling sessions? Do you offer sliding-scale or discounted rates?
Counselling sessions have a fee of £45 per 50 minute session. Clients who hold DLA, PIP or another benefit do have access to discounted rates of £35 per 50 minute session. At some stage, we hope to introduce Pay it Forward sessions for individuals who need counselling but cannot afford it. Please discuss with your counsellor if you are experiencing financial hardship.
